Introducing Amanda Cooke, Waikanae resident and Ngārara’s first home buyer. As a local librarian Amanda gets a chance to “meet everybody” and finds herself talking about Ngārara all the time – and her excitement is palpable. We got a chance to sit down with Amanda and ask her why she is so passionate about this new development.
“I always knew that the site was going to be a development, and as I started hearing snippets about what kind of development it was going to be, it started resonating with me and I realised that this was really going to be the way forward. When action started to happen on the site and there was real estate presence, I decided to check it out.
The thing is, I had been keeping an eye on this young, progressive and funky group of architects called First Light and had been admiring their work and their success for some time. They’re changing the way we think and the way we live. I believe architecture has to be non-pretentious yet innovative and cutting edge. When I realised they were involved in the development, I knew it was synchronicity. I loved their homes and never thought I would be lucky enough to live in one of them! I hadn’t really appreciated the Ngārara project until I finally crossed the bridge and realised it was going to be eco-friendly and truly innovative. The more I read, the more I liked. Watching the progression of the show-home has been captivating.
The quality of the building is over and above anything I’ve experienced, and it has given me confidence in and respect for the project. This development is so special for the Kapiti Coast. I’m proud of it and delighted to be a part of this adventure.”
